- Programa formativo en centro universitario de prestigio, próximo a Londres, en un entorno joven y dinámico. A continuación se detalla información sobre el proyecto: Woodlice are gregarious invertebrates that form aggregate for several reasons which the main one is the desiccation. Other demonstrated benefits of gregarious behaviour for woodlice are reduced oxygen consumption (which is a proxy for enegry expenditure), increase growth rate. Most studies of woodlice aggregation have focused on single species aggregations, but woodlice are frequenctly found in mixed-species aggregates in natural conditions. In this project, the aim at studying the mechanisms of aggregation behaviour in multiple ways. The intern study 3 different species that are common in UK and that are sharing common environment: Oniscus asellus, Porcellio scaber and Armadillidum vulgare and he/she will quantify their behaviour (with video-tracking) and physiology (e.g. respiration) Characterise the social interactions in the aggregate and investigate abiotic factor that drive aggregation behaviour such as temperature and humidity.
- Las prácticas tendrán un seguimiento semanal por parte del tutor y mensualmente por el supervisor del proyecto.
